Holding Cross
HOLD-001
Made in here in the workshop from local wood - oak, yew, walnut and cherry. I have made a variety of thickness and sizes to fit comfortably in different size hands.
They are finished with danish oil after giving them a very smooth finish.
You can feel the different textures of the surface and edge of the wood. The grain markings an figure are visible all the way through, giving a glimpse into the life of the tree year by year.
This holding cross is designed to fit comfortably in the palm of the hand.
Holding it is an acted prayer and an aid to prayer.
Sometimes we cannot find words to express our prayers. Holding the cross may be your prayer. The arms are set out of line so you can hold it in whatever way you find comfortable. Different ways of holding may express different needs in prayer.
You hold the cross.
In doing so you show that you are holding on to Christ.
But it is equally important to know that he holds you. It can remind you that you are held. Jesus’ promise is, “No one will snatch them out of my hand”.
The cross was made from oak, in West Sussex.
